Australian first - breakthrough technology now available at RSB

The RSB came under national focus on Wednesday September 13, as we become the first organisation to bring breakthrough eyewear technology to Australia, giving many vision impaired people the opportunity to see clearly for the first time.

Developed in Canada, eSight technology is a clinically validated and patented engineering breakthrough that allows people with vision impairment to greatly enhance their remaining vision.  For those living with low vision, eSight glasses can offer a dramatically improved quality of life.

Adaptive Technology Manager, Andrew Davies, says the RSB is delighted to be the first national product sponsor for eSight’s glasses. “While the device cannot assist those who are totally blind, over 85 per cent of people who are legally blind have some usable vision that can be enhanced by eSight’s glasses. “The eSight glasses herald a new era for helping vision impaired people and in some cases, they will be life-changing.  It is tremendously exciting to be at the forefront of this type of technology and share it with not only our clients, but anyone with a vision impairment.

eSight Vice President of Clinical and Regulatory Affairs, Rob Hilkes, who will be in Adelaide for Wednesday’s launch, says the company is thrilled to offer Australians the technology that has already changed lives across Europe and North America.

RSB client Maureen Montes is at the top of the list to purchase a pair of eSight 3 glasses, “As soon as I tried out the trial pair I just knew I had to be the first person to buy them!  Anything that helps improve my quality of sight is definitely worth the money. I’m very excited to be able to start wearing them every day.”

eSight 3 is now available for demonstration and purchase in Australia through the RSB, to book a demonstration or to learn more about eSight call 1300 944 306
