Did you know? In their first 12 months, our adorable puppies undergo a series of health checks, vaccinations, and assessments to ensure they're ready for guide or assistance dog life, thanks to the help of our veterinarians at Tea Tree Gully Veterinary Hospital. Here's a glimpse into their health journey:

👶 Just a Few Days Old: Vet checks for pups and mum to ensure their well-being post-birth.
🐛 4 Weeks: Worming begins as they start exploring the outside world.
💉 6 Weeks: Pups receive their first vaccinations and microchipping. They're also introduced to being placed on the bench at the vet, having their bodies touched for checks, and getting needles. Having them experience this at a young age makes life easier as they get older!
✅ 8 Weeks: They receive their second vaccinations and a pre-handover health check before they leave to go with their puppy educators and start their guide and assistance dog training.
🎓 10 Weeks: Pups receive their final vaccinations, and we also use this opportunity to hold a puppy class and check in with our volunteers on the puppy's progress. A puppy can change so much in such a short time frame, and these checks allow for early detection and treatment (if necessary).

But it doesn't stop there! Milestone health checks continue, including hip assessments at 5-6 months and elbow and eye assessments at 12 months. Thanks to our top-notch breeding program, health issues are rare, ensuring our pups are ready for success!

To ensure the continued well-being of our pups, we depend on your ongoing support! Your contributions are vital in enabling our pups to reach their full potential as exceptional guide or assistance dogs. Join us in making a difference by donating today >> bit.ly/3DOTK7f
