Low Vision Awareness Sessions
Goal of Service
The Low Vision Awareness Sessions enable people coming to terms with vision loss the opportunity to meet with others in a similar situation and learn about strategies to deal with vision impairment. Family members and friends are also welcome to attend. It is a service coordinated by the Low Vision Centre (LVC).
The sessions are held over six weeks and cover the following areas:
- learning about eye conditions with an ophthalmologist,
- discussion of daily living problems with an occupational therapist,
- alternatives to print,
- mobility and independent travel,
- adaptive technology, and
- grief and loss.
First Floor, Knapman House, 230 Pirie Street, Adelaide.
A person is eligible to attend Low Vision Awareness Sessions if they are a client of the RSB.
Requests for this service are generally made by clients themselves and by family members or friends (with the individual’s consent) and other RSB staff.
