Dark to Light Walk
On 14 October the RSB will once again challenge individuals to raise $60 to buy a white cane for someone who is blind or vision impaired, by taking part in the Dark to Light fundraising walk.
Beginning in the dark and finishing in the light of dawn, the fundraising walk symbolises the positive changes that have taken place for people who are blind or vision impaired in our society. The walk will begin and finish at Knapman House, Pirie Street.
Registering for the walk is $15 and includes a t-shirt and breakfast, then each participant is challenged to raise $60 or more for a white cane.
The white cane is a simple item, but with training it can change the life of a person who is blind or vision impaired by allowing them to travel independently.
The 2010 Dark to Light Walk will take place on World Sight Day, Thursday 14 October.
